SAFE Special Issue in Trends in Food Science & Technology. Release Event 3 April 2019
On 3 April 2019, 25+ stakeholders attended the Release Event for the SAFE consortium Special Issue of Trends in Food Science &Technology:
Keeping Food Safety on the Agenda for 15 Years: The SAFE consortium
The 80-page Special Issue Journal contains 22 short review articles and an introduction. The articles are organised into five food safety themes, each of which was led by a SAFE member who invited experts in the field to contribute articles for the peer-reviewed publication:
- Food in the Circular Bioeconomy, by Matis Ltd in Iceland
- Safe Nutrients, by IBA in Romania
- Emerging Food SafetyThreats, by DiSBA-CNR in Italy
- Chemical Contamination of Food, by azti-tecnalia in Spain
- Communication of Food-Related Risks, by ESB-UCP in Portugal
Following short presentations on the most interesting aspects of the articles in each theme, there was an animated discussion among stakeholders and authors. Following, Policy Officer Natalia Brzezina of DG Agriculture and Rural Development gave a short presentation on "Horizon Europe and Food Safety R&I". A fortuitous turn of events allowed Policy Officer Razvan Anistoroaei of DG Research & Innovation, anticipated as an attendee, to also give a short presentation!
